Tuesday Toddler Update: Being a Big Brother!

Well, we have had a hectic week, but I’m back to blogging!  Last Wednesday I gave birth to baby our baby girl (henceforth known as “IP”) and we came home from the hospital Thursday night.  Unfortunately, IP and I had to go back to the hospital on Friday night so that she could be treated for jaundice.  We got home super late on Saturday night, and all four of us have just been trying to rest and recover since then.  Luckily we had family coming into town on Monday, so they have been helping out by hanging out with LP, grocery shopping and just being all around awesome!

But now, back to our regularly scheduled blog posts 🙂

Vegan Goodness:
To be honest, my brain is pretty fuzzy from hour to hour right now due to lack of sleep.  I don’t remember what I ate for breakfast this morning.  However, here is a list of some of the vegan foods I managed to find and eat in two different hospitals in the last week!

  • Cream of wheat and oatmeal
  • Lots and lots of rice crispies with soymilk
  • Bean and vegetable soup
  • A hummus/taboulah plate with pita bread
  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
  • Fruit
  • Almonds

Money Matters:
In the past week, we spent the following:

  • $19.00 for hospital parking (the G-man was in and out getting LP to come and visit his new baby sister!)
  • $13.06 for Motrin for mom
  • $13.68 for our regular order of creamed coconut for smoothies (from Amazon subscribe and save)
  • $11.07 stocking up a Whole Foods munchies that the G-man brought to me when I was stuck in the hospital with IP
  • $100.00 co-pay to get admitted to the hospital through the ER

Tuesday Toddler Update:

This week LP officially became a big brother!  He is an awesome, awesome big brother so far.  He asks to hold the baby, and he mimics holding her the way we do, complete with using his arm to support her neck.  He loves to kiss her on the head and gently poke her nose and say “boop!”  One day I was sitting in the recliner with IP sleeping on my shoulder and LP climbed into my lap and gave us both a big hug.  He is really sweet and gentle and we are so, so proud of him!

While LP has been great with his baby sister, he has also been dealing really well with a lot of stress.  There are lots of changes going on for him right now, and we weren’t able to give him the attention we wanted to when we came home because we were trying to deal with IP going back into the hospital with mom.  Through it all LP has behaved really well, even if he has been a bit tired.  However, starting yesterday he was totally the center of attention when his grandparents and aunt came to visit!  He got to go to the park, stomp in puddles, watch train videos, play “count the cows” on Grandpa’s computer tablet and play “night-night” where he makes Grandma go to bed.  He has been having a blast, and Grandma and Grandpa have been fantastic at giving him a ton of love and attention.  We are truly a very lucky family.
