Thursday Baby Update: Late (and loud) nights

Vegan Goodness:
Today we ate:

  • Breakfast: Green smoothies and toast for Dad, Grandma and LP and some toast and tea later in the morning for Mom.
  • LP snacked on some almonds and raisins at playgroup in the park.
  • Lunch: LP and Dad had some leftover stir-fry, Grandma had some yogurt (which LP shared), Mom had hummus and crackers (also shared by LP) and some bread dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
  • Mom ate some chocolate almonds as a snack
  • Dinner: Mahogany eggplant over quinoa – it came out great, even though we realized we were missing ginger after the G-man started cooking.  He substituted ground ginger (usually a big substitution no-no) but is still came out amazing!  Let’s hear it for substitutions!

Money Matters:
Today we went to a playgroup at the park and then hung out a home.  A fun and free day!

Thursday Baby Update:

IP has been super fun to play with the last few days.  She is having more and more calm awake time where she wants to interact and explore the world.  She has two toys so far that she finds interesting: her keys from Grandma and her little stuffed bear from Nana and Papa.  If you hold her toys in front of her she waves her arms (I think she is trying to get ahold of those fun toys!)  LP will sometimes put the bear on her chest and then move her arms so she is “holding” it – it is super cute!  Also, if she gets any of these items near her mouth, she starts chomping on them.  So far each limb of her little bear has gotten baby spit on it.  That’s how you know it is a good toy!

After a couple rough nights, IP had a good night last night.  She nursed around 9:30, then I rocked her to sleep, then she was in her bassinet at 10:15.  I had to go back up once to rock her back to sleep, but then she stayed asleep until 2:15.  Then, she ate and went right back to sleep.  She woke up again at 5:30 with a full diaper and her swaddle undone, but I got her all cleaned up, re-swaddled and nursed her, and she went right back to sleep snuggled up on my chest.  I let her sleep on me until 7am when LP got up.  It was nice to get calm baby snuggles for once!

She is doing much better with nursing now.  She is nursing on both sides for feedings, and is not sucking in tons of air anymore.  She seems to do fine with a few burping sessions during a feeding, which is much better than the vigorous thwacking and jiggling I used to have to do to help her feel better.  It’s only been about three days of this type of nursing, so we’ll see how we do the next week, but I hope we can continue to keep her feeding time peaceful!
