Tuesday Toddler Update:
LP has an alter ego: Baby Goo-goo. Baby Goo-goo likes to make an appearance whenever IP is getting “too much” attention, or whenever LP isn’t getting his way. Or, sometimes, Baby Goo-goo likes to appear when LP is in a particularly snugly mood. Either way, Baby Goo-goo is definitely LP’s own personal version of regression.
Some of Baby Goo-goo’s favorite activities include sitting in the bumbo and dumping baby toys on the floor, falling down backwards and going “wah wah,” and being carried around and burped. Not surprisingly, these are common activities for baby IP as well.
At first I was a bit worried when Baby Goo-goo made his appearance. It was definitely one of those parenting moments where I wondered “what do I do here? Ignore it? Go with it? Discipline it?” The G-man and I decided to ignore and/or discipline the incessant whining and crying that happened under the guise of “Baby Goo-goo” but to roll with it when Baby Goo-goo wanted to play with a baby toy or be snuggled or carried. Lately the whining has died down, but the toy playing has increased. I’m trying to enjoy the snuggles I get from “Baby Goo-goo” – and I’m also trying not to think of him as LP’s id!
