Tuesday Toddler Update:
We have been taking LP to Music Together since he was just over a year old. In our first session he mostly ran around the room and played in front of the huge mirror (it was in a dance studio). The teacher told us that this was actually pretty normal, and she described the Music Together “musical development” which apparently involves lots of time without showing tons of class participation. Now, in the last couple years LP has started participating in class more, and he sings to the CDs at home. Recently, though, he has started making up his own songs. He sings about doing puzzles. He sings about making dinner. Today, when he was supposed to be going to sleep for his nap, he sang a song about getting treats, punctuated with an occasional “Why” (apparently all to himself – he was the only one in the room). I’m kinda impressed with all his song-writing ability. Even if they do all sound like a slightly warped version “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”
